duncan-scott-3 The British Gas GBR Swimming Team ended the European Junior Swimming Championships with 28 medals including 16 multi-classification medals.

The team of 29 athletes also posted 41 personal best times during the five day event which was held in Dordrecht, the Netherlands.

Duncan Scott (Grangemouth) posted a 1:49.66 PB in the 200m Freestyle to take fourth behind Russia’s Anton Skudnov who touched in 1:49.23 for third.

The penultimate day of the 2014 LEN European Junior Swimming Championships saw both Scottish swimmers progress through to their respective finals.

Duncan Scott (FIRST), who won gold in the 200m Individual Medley yesterday, won his 200m Freestyle semi-final in 1:50.13 to go through in third. Martyn Walton (Hatfield) finished tenth in a time of 1:51.25.

National Open Champion, Craig Bowman (Carnegie) progressed through to the final of the 100m Butterfly after touching in 54.44 for seventh place.

Tamas Kenderesi, an 18-year-old from Hungary, joined the top 15 in the world over 200m butterfly this year and confirmed his new status when he claimed the 200m butterfly crown in 1:56.74 at the European Junior Championships in Dordrecht this evening.

Kenderesi’s last-lap blast to a big career best leap-frogged the best Hungarian of the season before that, Laszlo Cseh, the 2008 Olympic silver medallist behind Michael Phelps, and marked a 2.28sec personal improvement from the 1:59.03 he clocked earlier in the season before a 1:56.59 at Hungarian Junior nationals last month for world No 13 this season. A 1:58.92 in semis yesterday delivered the warning that Kenderesi has stepped up big time since a best last year of 2:01.95.

Britain’s junior swimmers continued to impress on day three of the LEN European Junior Swimming Championships in Dordrecht by securing three gold medals.

The British Gas GBR Swimming team secured four individual medals - including three golds - and one team medal.

Duncan Scott swam a strong final 50m to win gold in the 200m Individual Medley and take the European Junior title.

The GBR Boys 4x100m Freestyle Relay team won gold on the opening day of the LEN European Junior Swimming Championships in Dordrecht, Netherlands.

Katie Nesbitt also secured GBR’s first multi-classification European Junior gold medal by winning the MC 100m Freestyle.

The British team of Duncan Scott, Martyn Walton, Miles Munro and Jack Smith finished in 3:19.78 to secure the title ahead of the German team in 3:22.09 and the Italian team in 3:22.30.

The Commonwealth Games at Gold Coast was the focus for April. Duncan left Scotland in the middle of March for a couple of weeks in a holding camp in Brisbane. After a delay due to illness Duncan joined the team in the commonwealth games village. The Games opened on the 4th. Swimmers don’t go to the opening ceremony as they compete the following day. Mar 2018

The snow for the Edinburgh International / British Championships meant the crowd was smaller than usual but the swimmers were there. They were conscious of the Australian trials for the Commonwealth Games taking place on the other side of the world. He swam the four disciplines of an IM – all looking good. Feb 2018

The main competition for February was BUCs (British Universities and Colleges Sport) He broke the 200 Free record and the Stirling team won the 4 x 100 in a new record time. He had a healthy time for the 200IM final too.

Jan 2018

Duncan spent several weeks in Perth Western Australia with Scottish team mates enjoying winter sun. They returned late January and were off to Luxembourg for the Euro Meet 26th-28th January. Duncan swam 49.51 in the 100 Free A final – finishing 4th He didn’t make the A final in the 200Free but swam faster than the A final Gold medalist with a 1.47.87 – a stunning time for the part of the year. He took silver in the 200 IM with 2.00.74. A great start to the New Year.

Dec 2017

A busy month competitions in Edinburgh and Copenhagen. Duncan took the 200IM title. He rested from a variety of swims knowing he had the Europeans a few days later. When you aren’t 100%, you know it. Duncan joined the 9 swimmers of the British team in Copenhagen for his first International Short Course competition. Day 2 he swam in the 200 Free. Nov 2017

Duncan is an ambassador for Scottish water and regularly appears at swimming pools to encourage children to swim. He appeared in the Scottish parliament to speak re the learn to swim programmes. We must not forget BUCs ( British Universities Short Course Competition) in Sheffield.

Oct 2017

Announcement by British Swimming of those athletes to gain lottery funding for 2017/18. Duncan has again been fortunate to secure lottery funding. Duncan spent some of October in Flagstaff before returning to the UK. Team GB for European Short Course announced.

Award season The night of the 21/9/17 Duncan was through in Edinburgh to the EICC for the Team Scotland awards. We were delighted that sister Alexandria accompanied him.He was up against tough completion with Andy Murray, Calum Hawkins and Josh Taylor but the swimmer won the Male athlete of the year. Worlds Budapest Duncan swam at the British Championships in Sheffield in April and secured a place in the British team by swimming a new British record in the 100 Freestyle. His time had him ranked fastest in the world in 2017. (47.90) Duncan had a busy week starting on Monday 24th with the 200 Freestyle heats and semis in the evening.
