Training continues for swimmers from Bo’ness ASC. Swimmers from the Falkirk Integrated Regional Swim Team (F.I.R.S.T.) participated at the Scottish Open last week end.

This was a four day competition held at the newly opened Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh. This is the same 50m pool soon to be used for training by the GB swimmers prior to this years Olympics.

Five swimmers from Bo’ness made the standard to qualify. Heats are held in the morning and finals in the last session of the day. There are two sets of finals with the top 8 in the A final.

Day 1 Duncan Scott, 15, made the B final of the 200 Breast stroke. He swam a PB in the heats and improved on that in the final.

Day 2  In the evening Duncan Scott (15) swam in the B final of the 200 Fly. He swam a PB in both races and was the fastest under 16 year old so was awarded the Scottish Junior Title.

Day 3 Duncan swam in the 200 IM. Both Duncan and Callum made the B final swimming. Duncan also made the B final of the 200 Back and swam PBs in both the heats and final.

Day 4 started with a 100 Fly for Duncan.  All the Bo’ness boys were in the 400 IM with Callum making the Sunday night B final and Duncan the A final. Callum and Duncan improved on their heat times and Duncan PB’d coming home with the Scottish Junior Title. The trophy he was presented with had previously been won by Steven Tigg. Steven Tigg is the F.I.R.S.T. youth squad coach.

Well done to all the swimmers who competed over the weekend. The next competition for these swimmers is the ASA in Sheffield.
