Worlds Budapest

Duncan swam at the British Championships in Sheffield in April and secured a place in the British team by swimming a new British record in the 100 Freestyle. His time had him ranked fastest in the world in 2017. (47.90)

Duncan had a busy week starting on Monday 24th with the 200 Freestyle heats and semis in the evening. His time in the semis had him ranked 1st for the final on the Tuesday with a PB of 1.45.16

25th was finals night. He swam a 1.45.27 and finished fourth in the world. He’d broken his PB to make the final and swam close to that on the night. There was 0.04 between him and the third place.

No rest - back in the pool on the Wednesday for the 100 Free. He swam 48.46 to make the semis and improved with a 48.10 to make the final where he swam 48.11 to finish 5th on the 27th July.

28th was the 4 x 200. Britain had won this 2 years ago in Kazan. Duncan had won the heats then but was definitely one of the team. Jimmy Guy swam the final leg in 1.43.80. Duncan’s split of 1.44.60 was the third fastest in the pool that night. The boys really stepped up for the relay. They won in 7.01.70.

Duncan had the Saturday away from competition but was back in the pool on the Sunday. Swimming the heats with Team mate Ross Murdoch in the 4 x 100 medlay. He swam the final leg in the finals in a magical 47.04. The team finished second. Beautiful to watch.
