Duncan Scott has just been awarded Junior Sports Personality of the Year by Clackmannanshire Council.
He has had an outstanding year and at the end of 2013 was ranked number 1 15-16 year old in Europe.
He competed for Team GB in the European Youth Olympics and won 4 medals (1/4 of the swimming medals) Gold in the 200IM and silver in the 400IM he had a silver and bronze from the relays too.
In August he swam at the ASA Youth in Sheffield and won 6 golds from 6 races.
He holds UK records for 50 free as a 15 year old and a 16 year old, 7 Scottish Junior Long Course records, 5 Scottish 16 year old records and of eighteen 16 year old long course west district records, 11 are Duncan Scott’s.
Scottish Swimming recognised his incredible achievements awarding him Junior Swimmer of the year in September
In November British Swimming recognised his achievements and future potential. They awarded him podium potential funding. This helps to cover some of the travel costs for his level of swimming. He has just returned from BUC’s (British Universities Competition) in Sheffield where he broke his own age group record. Last weekend he was representing Scotland against Ireland in the Dual Nations in Bangor. Another of his records broken, this time the 400IM.
