This weekend 6 swimmers from Bo’ness ASC travelled through to Glasgow for the Edinburgh International Swimming Gala (on tour as it was held at Tollcross venue for the 2014 commonwealth Games). This is such an important event in the swimming calendar that 2010 Commonwealth Games Gold medal winner Hannah Milley was in action. Tollcross is an Olympic sized 50m pool with 10 lanes. Quite overwhelming, especially when the spectator area is full.
Youngest of the boys, Duncan Scott, 13, swam a PB in his first race of the day, 100 Back. He repeated this before lunch in the 200 Breast. Session 2 on Saturday saw him swim a 200 Back, followed in the evening with the 200 IM. Sunday he also had 4 swims: 100 Fly (PB) a 200 Free and in the afternoon 100 Free and a 200 Fly.
All these swimmers swim for Bo’ness ASC and are coached by Steven Tigg and Monica Borland. Bo’ness top swimmers are part of F.I.R.S.T. (Falkirk Integrated Regional Swim Team). This team accomplished third place at the Scottish National Age Groups last year.
