Commonwealth silver medallist Lauren Quigley and Youth Olympic medallist Luke Greenbank will lead a promising British contingent at the Pro Swim Series in Florida, just two months out from the British Swimming Championships.
The three-day meet (12-14 February) will see swimmers continue their early season development at the YMCA Aquatic Centre, Orlando ahead of April’s national championships in London.
The squad also includes European Junior and Youth Olympic Champion Duncan Scott as well as European Junior bronze medallists Emma Cain and Amelia Clynes.
Head of Performance Pathway Tim Jones said: “There is a mix of some exciting young athletes, who are relatively new to British Swimming's World Class Programme, and some more experienced swimmers for whom this event forms part of their continued development.
“The idea for this tour falls under the umbrella of 3TP (Tokyo 2020 Project). The goal this time is to take a group of athletes outside of their comfort zones to race hard whilst dealing with jet lag. Competing in the U.S. always provides us with high quality opposition, and the timing of the meet ahead of the British Championships is an opportunity we couldn’t pass up.
“We will have a minimal one-day acclimatisation period before the start of three days of racing from Thursday, with the team returning to the UK at the end of the week."
